Simon Sisters
Lucy Simon was a member of a well-known musical family. She was the daughter of Richard Simon, the founder of music publishing giant Simon & Schuster and the middle sister of singers Carly Simon and Lucy Simon. She and Carly sang together as the Simon Sisters during the folk music revival of the 1960s. The duo had a minor hit song in 1964 with “Winkin’, Blinkin’ and Nod” from their debut album. The sisters would release two more albums in the 1960s. Later, Lucy Simon found success as a Broadway composer and was nominated in 1991 for a Tony Award for composing “The Secret Garden.” She and her husband David Levine produced two Grammy winning children’s albums.
Notable Quote
“We would go to cocktail parties and bring our guitar and sing.” “And people loved it.” – She told the New York Times in 2015 about when she and Carly started performing.
