Brilliant engine builder helped Richard and Lee Petty win in NASCAR

Petty raced as a driver initially and had some success but quickly switched his focus to engine building. Called “The Chief” for his superior mechanical abilities, he helped his brother Richard and father Lee win a combined seven NASCAR Championships and almost 200 races. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2014.
