Johnson’s death Jan. 16, 2014, at the age of 89 inspired waves of nostalgia and great memories of the wacky antics of the Professor and his compatriots. The news broke at a time when “Gilligan’s Island” was poised to return to American screens through a film adaptation starring Josh Gad.
