On the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, we honor the legacy of those who were there.
Seventy-seven years ago this week, on the morning of Dec. 7, 1941, world history changed forever when Japanese warplanes launched a surprise attack on the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The attack left 2,403 Americans dead, and the U.S. promptly declared a state of war, thus officially entering World War II on the side of the Allies. President Franklin D. Roosevelt dubbed it “a date which will live in infamy.” In honor of this historic anniversary, Legacy.com remembers and celebrates the lives of those who were there.
