Stone was a legend on the music scene in Vermont. He was a critically acclaimed bluegrass banjo and pedal steel guitar player. Stone played on two Phish albums, their 1992 album A Picture of Nectar and 1993’s Rift. He fronted various bluegrass bands and released many recordings during his career. Stone had been working on a new record that was scheduled to be released the day he died.
