Sonny Geraci, the former lead singer for the Outsiders who are known for their song 1aTime Won19t Let Me,1a died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, according to WTAM in Cleveland, Ohio. He was 69.


WTAM was notified of Geraci's death Sunday morning by his family.

Geraci is best known for his time as the lead singer of the 1960s band the Outsiders. The Cleveland rock band had a hit song in 1966 with 1aTime Won19t Let Me.1a The song was a catchy garage rocker that featured a tight horn section. The band had recorded the song for a local label first, and Capitol Records signed the band after hearing the song. The Outsiders had three more singles reach the Top 40 during their career.

After the Outsiders broke up, Geraci became the lead singer of the band Climax. The band would release only one album, titled 1aClimax Featuring Sonny Geraci,1a which came out in 1972. The album featured the one-hit-wonder song 1aPrecious and Few.1a The song spent three weeks at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over 1 million copies.

Later in his career, he would sing with the Grass Roots, and he became an honorary member of that band.

In 2007, Geraci toured under the name Sonny Geraci and the Outsiders.

The singer had a brain aneurysm in April 2012 and never fully recovered.
