Kinsey Carpenter Obituary

Kinsey Leas Carpenter Was born July 16, 1953 and died April 11, 2011, after suffering a massive hemorrhagic stroke while skiing in Mammoth. He was treasured by his parents, Martha Dell Kinsey Carpenter and Samuel Leas Carpenter III, and their families, to whom he was a beloved nephew and cousin. Kinsey adored his six children: Kinsey Jr. (Casey), Kary, Brian, Gillian, Andrew and Alexandria, and four grandchildren: Sophia, Claire, Alexander and Connor. He attended Harvard School, graduating in 1972, and continued his studies at USC and UCLA. Following in the family tradition, Kinsey entered the insurance business, and founded Carpenter Moore Insurance Services in 1986. The company was acquired by NASDAQ in 2005, at which time Kinsey retired to pursue his other interests in life. This included building a green LEED house in Mexico, traveling, volunteering, supporting local Alcoholic Anonymous chapters, and spending more time with his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Forest Lawn Glendale on Monday, April 18th at 11:30 am (1712 S. Glendale Ave. Glendale, CA 91205 ). Kinsey was like a brother to me growing up (living next door). I am so sorry that we lost touch and I hope he is comforted now by his parents and my parents. What a terrible loss for his children and grandchildren. I hope they gain strength from memories of his great smile.

I went through grade school with Kinsey
and we had some fun times;
Imitating The Beatles, practicing magic tricks,
talking about the girls at school and getting into mischief in Hancock Park
Great memories of of wonderful friend..

Lisa,
I'm so sorry for your loss of Kinsey. I know you guys had so much you were looking forward to together. I'm sure you and those who loved him are devastated. I hope his children and family are comforted in knowing he was in a good place and so loved. May his strength of character and kindness live on in his children.

Kinsey was my first friend when I began work in Los Angeles at Stewart Smith in 1977. He was also my best man when I married Vel Nissen in 1978. Vel and I wish to express our deepest sympathy to Kinsey's family and friends. We remember him as being a great guy with a big heart and a fun sense of humour. Paul Addison
