Eda Hettinger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 4 to Aug. 6, 2006.
HETTINGER Eda "Maxine" Hettinger, age 89, passed 3 August 2006, at Mother Angelina McCrory Manor. Maxine graduated from East High School in 1935 and attended Capital University. She was preceded in death by her son Michael and husband Vincent. She is survived by her children, Joseph (June), James, Mary, Barbara, Peggy (Scott) Mayo; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She resided with her husband (Vincent) in Grandview, Bexley, and Grove City. She retired from Columbia Gas Co. in 1979, and was a member of the St. Catharine and Bexley seniors groups. Maxine, along with her husband, was a wonderful example of graceful parenting, in both good and difficult times. She made her family the focus of her life, always being concerned about the well being of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, even when her own health was failing. She always put her family first in all considerations, giving her personal attention to all, making special efforts for each individually, and making each feel special; and was a generous giver of her time and talent with family, friends, and acquaintances. Mom will be deeply missed but always loved, appreciated, revered, and remembered. Friends and family may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St., Columbus, Oh. 43206. Friends and family will meet for Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 S. High St., on the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery. (No procession from the funeral home.) Burial St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to church, charity, Parkinson (parkinson.org or copscolumbus.org), or Alzheimer's.

Sid (Mary), Barbie, Peggy, Jimmy and Joe,

Please know that y'all have my deepest sympathy at this very difficult time in your lives. I feel honored that your mama played a part in my life as well. Keep her memories warm, as I will, and know that our Lord has His arms wrapped around y'all in love.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this time of loss. Jeanie and I have suffered the loss of both our mothers and empathize. Moms truly are worthy of even more than one day set aside to honor them. In reverence to God's commandment "Honor thy Mother and Father" you truly have drawn God's gaze with your reflective tribute to your mother. For your families it will be equally as important to continue that tribute by maintaining your walk in a manner worthy of our Lord, pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in your good works and increasing in the knowledge of Him.

Love, Jean & Bruce Bartley
