Clarissa Schmidt Obituary

Dr. Clarissa Schmidt
BEECH ISLAND - Dr. Clarissa Yvonne Chavis Schmidt, 52, of Beech Island, SC, beloved wife of thirty-two years to David, entered into rest on Thursday, August 8, 2019.
Born in Augusta, GA and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, she was a daughter of Eyvonne and Ed Benson and the late Curtis and Lena Jane Chavis. Dr. Schmidt had a passion for helping others and was the owner if North Augusta Smiles. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. A kind and caring soul, she enjoyed going on mission trips, crafting, traveling, going to the races and was known for giving personalized gifts. More than anything however, she enjoyed being with her family and friends.
Additional family members include her siblings, Angie, the late Stella, the late Darlene and the late Curtis, Denise, Michelle and Kimberly, grandparents, the late Joe and Eula Mae, sister-in-law's, Peggy and her companion, James and Penny and her husband, Donnie, brother-in-law, Dr. Michael and his wife, Beverly and nieces and nephews, Rylee, Brandee and her husband, Sheldon, Bobby, Caleb, Laylah, Trenton, Taylor, Marshall and Haley and great-niece, Natalee and father and mother-in-law, Allan and Diane Schmidt.
The family will greet friend on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, from 10 until 12 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home, 3464 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Graniteville, SC. A graveside service will follow at 2 o'clock in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.

The loss of Dr. Schmidt's life is so unbelievable and inconceivable. She was such a lovely, kind, and generous person. Her heart was genuine, and she tried to make the world a better place. Her early demise from living a long, full life is tragic; there was so much more for her to do, so much that she looked forward to doing. She was a woman with a plan. The North Augusta Smiles staff have been so warm and helpful to my family through years; whether it was Dr. Tully or Clarissa, the staff never made us feel like we were visiting a service, but an inviting atmosphere making you feel relaxed and like friends. Honest, natural people who cared greatly about the face of their business. She was a blessed person. The sympathies my family shares goes out to each of you who lived and worked with her daily, and to her family and friends with their broken hearts.

I thought at one time...who could possibly ever fill Dr. Tully's shoes. Then came Dr. Schmidt. She was wonderful! I am grateful for the love and compassion she showed me and my two children over the years. She will be greatly missed! Praying for her husband, family, friends, staff, and professional colleagues.

We are all devastated to learn of Dr. Schmidt's passing. She (and her loving staff) were always interested in the progress of Max, Stuart, and Maury throughout school and careers; in fact, Maury talked with Dr. Schmidt on Friday to update her on graduating with her DVM degree and her new job. Dr. Schmidt was the only dentist that they have ever known. Our prayers are heartfelt for her family and staff. Her wonderful smile and happy disposition will be greatly missed.
