Mildred Carmichael Obituary

CARMICHAEL, Mildred Mildred Williamson Carmichael, 93, of St. George Village in Roswell and formerly of East Point, Georgia, died December 12, 2014 after a brief illness. Born and raised in East Point, she graduated from Russell High School in 1938, where she was voted "Most Beautiful" of her senior class. She attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, followed by business school in Atlanta. She married her high school sweetheart, Abb Harris Carmichael, in 1941 before Abb left to serve his country in World War II. After the war ended, Abb and Mildred returned to East Point where Abb returned to his family's business, Howard L. Carmichael & Sons Funeral Home. Mildred worked for Southern Bell in downtown Atlanta until she and Abb had children. Mildred and Abb were active in East Point and the South Fulton community in many ways. Mildred was a member of East Point First Methodist Church and the McWilliams Sunday School Class. She was a member of the East Point Women's Club and active in her daughters' schools. She was also a member of IDC, the Interior Decorating Club, and traveled extensively with this group in the U.S. and abroad. After celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in March of 1991, she lost her beloved Abb in October of the same year. She relocated to Norcross and then Roswell to be closer to her family. She became active in Roswell United Methodist Church, the Seekers Sunday School Class, and the senior's group, Senior Enriched Living. She was a Charter Member of St. George Village, where she moved in 2005. She enjoyed a very active social life in all of her pursuits, and she made many dear friends everywhere she lived during her 93 years. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Roy D. and Emma Parham Williamson, her brother, DeForest R. Williamson, her beloved husband Abb Harris Carmichael, and infant son Howard Roy Carmichael. Mildred is survived by children Cathy and Richard Stilley, of Roswell, and Caren Carmichael, of Peachtree Corners, grandchildren Allison Stilley Roach, Amanda Stilley Haselden, Andrew Carmichael Lackey, Jessica Evelyn Ludolph, and their spouses, along with great-grandchildren Avery Elizabeth Roach, Bennett Graham Haselden, and Wesley Graham Roach. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15th at Northside Chapel Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 16th at Westview Cemetery with Minister Bob Tyler officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the main gate by 12:45 p.m. for procession to the graveside. Those desiring make contributions to the RUMC Music Ministry, 814 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell GA. 30075
