Hanson, Dagne
Dagne Hanson, best known simply as Dagne, brilliant artist and best beloved Mother, went on to the next thing on Monday April 21st, 2014. She spent her last Saturday visiting with her loved ones, talking, smiling, laughing, singing and reciting poetry. She spent her last Sunday sleeping while listening to people tell her stories and giving her doting partner Joseph Hanson a smile and a kiss. She was always willing to listen to anyone's stories. She was very good at understanding people, even better at accepting people, and a most generous giver of forgiveness. Dagne left behind a huge body of incredible art, the product of a lifetime as a professional fine artist. Her work has been shown in galleries across the country and across the sea, it is displayed with pride and joy in the homes and offices of a multitude. She painted portraits, nudes, heroic flowers, and families. Her primary medium was oil paint on canvas, but she also painted watercolors, created ink drawings, and sculpted in clay and bronze. She had the uncommon gift of being able to translate a person's essence onto a two dimensional plane, a gift that was inherent in her being, rather than learned. Much of Dagne's artwork can be seen on her website at
www.dagne.org. Born to Willis Hanson and Doris Hanson (nee Badley) on February 3, 1931, Dagne is survived by a large and diverse family. Her husband Joseph. Children Gregory Yares (Nancy Odegaard), Jonathan Yares (Kim), Evan Yares, Michael Yares (Dana Beckstoffer-Yares), Sonni Hopkins Harris, and Soren "Sam" Hanson. Grandchildren Dustin (Shari), Sarah (Ryan), Karl, Peter, Ian, Jensen, and Elaine, as well as great-grandchildren Dylan and Alyssa. Her sister Valerie. Her nieces and nephews Kathee, Robert, Dagne, Eric, René, Danny, and Lisa. Adopted grand-children Sam and Emma. More cousins than can be counted and a vast array of friends and acquaintances that got to enjoy her maternal strength. She was always a mother to anyone in need. A memorial and celebration of her life will be scheduled in February 2015.
