Richard was born on October 2, 1930, in Rochester, New York. He was the son of Stanislaw and Emilja Kamienski.
Richard grew up in Rochester, NY, with his siblings Sophie, Helen and Leo. Upon his graduation from Benjamin Franklin High School, Richard received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, in 1948. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served his country in the Pacific, Japan and South Korea from 1950 - 1954. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Aventinus-3 during his Naval Service. In 1955 Richard met Jean Skillen, the love of his life. They were married on April 12, 1956 in East Orange, New Jersey. Richard and Jean had two children, Eric and Laura. They were married for over 50 beautiful years until Jean passed away in 2006. In 1960 Richard began working for Mohawk Airlines at the Utica/Rome Airport. In 1974 the family moved from Canastota to Harmony, Pennsylvania when Richard's job was transferred to the Pittsburgh International Airport. He continued to work with distinction as an outstanding aircraft mechanic until his retirement in 2005. In 2018 Richard and Laura moved to their new home in Portersville, just up the road from Harmony. Their home was a warm and welcome environment for Richard in his later years. Richard lived his life to care for his family and friends. He was loved by many and he will be always remembered fondly by all that were lucky enough to have known him.
