Sid was loved by all and widely acknowledged as the nicest, kindest, sweetest man with a warm, loving, and wonderful smile. His family fondly referred to him as the "man of yes" – always ready to join a family trip to near or far destinations, ride a rollercoaster, or visit the latest Monet exhibit. Second only to the pride and joy he derived from raising his family, Sid was deeply committed to his health and walking for exercise. Over more than 40 years, he meticulously logged 17,000 miles, walking through neighborhoods, parks, and malls and later on tracks, treadmills, and elliptical machines.
Born in
Rochester, NY, Sid graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1955 and The Albany College of Pharmacy in 1959. His dedication to pharmacy and to his customers was evident throughout his career at Cramer's Pharmacy, Medical Arts Pharmacy, Rite Aid, and Wegmans.
Sid was deeply committed to helping others in need. He selflessly cared for his parents and older relatives as they aged, and this sense of commitment extended to the larger community as well: Sid, along with his wife Lois, volunteered for decades at The Jewish Home of Rochester and for Meals on Wheels.
Sid was a proud member of Jewish War Veterans Post #41 David J. Kaufman Post. A highlight of his later years was participating in Honor Flight Mission #77 in May 2023, a deeply meaningful experience, celebrating his service as a Private in the US Army.
Simply put, Sid was a mensch. We will miss him dearly. Zichrono Livracha – may his memory be forever a blessing.
