Nancy Neumann Obituary

Nancy Lee Neumann, 61, also known as Nan and Ahma, fought a valiant 3½ year battle with ovarian cancer. Nancy died on 1/1/05 at her home surrounded by family. Nancy was born July 4, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Aldrich and Lilamae Iverson. She was the eldest of three daughters. Nancy attended high school in West Concord, MN and studied Art and Science at the University of Minnesota. Nancy married Lawrence Agerter in 1963 and had one daughter, Dena LaMae in 1967. They divorced in 1981. Nancy owned and operated a gift shop in Mantorville, MN. Later she took a managerial position in the Zales Corporation which led to her transfer to Phoenix, AZ in 1985. Nancy married Alan "Jess" Neumann in 1986 and became a step-mom to then 4 year old Mindy and 2 year old Adam. Nancy and Jess have lived in Mesa, AZ for the past 18 years. She retired in 1998. Nancy's greatest source of joy came from spending time with her family especially her three grandsons. Ahma (Grandma) enjoyed teaching the boys about her love of music, art and nature. Nancy had a beautiful singing voice and played the piano. She liked hiking and shared an interest in gardening with Jess, Dena and her son-in-law, Christian. Her artistic skills were expressed in stain glass, watercolors, pencil drawings and making jewelry. After her diagnosis with cancer, Nancy created many lovely watercolors of flowers from her yard. Nancy is survived and missed by many loved ones including: husband, Alan "Jess" Neumann, daughter Dena Cornelius, M.D., son-in-law Christian Cornelius, M.D., grandsons, Bryce Cornelius (5 yrs) and Asher Cornelius (20 mo), step-daughter Mindy Neumann, step-grandson Uriah Smith (11 mo), step-son Adam Neumann, mother Lilamae Iverson, sisters Susan Papenfuss and Dahn Lermon and niece Jackie Olsson. Memorial services will take place on Friday 1/7/05 at 11 am at King of Glory Lutheran Church 2085 E. Southern Ave. Mesa, AZ. Flowers may be sent to the church.
