Billie Plant Obituary

Billie was born in Baird, Texas to Vernie Alvin Lambert and Hattie Naomi Lambert. Billie was the eldest of six daughters. Through the first 13 years of her life, Billie often filled in as second mom to Martha (Nadine), Patsy, Shirley, Nancy and Carol, while their father and mother worked in local area farms.
Her love and special bond with her sisters were ever-present throughout her life. At the age of 16 she married Ronald O'neil Plant. Together they had three children; Ginger, Daniel and Rhonda. She always said they were her greatest accomplishments and brought her the most joy. Billie could sew anything, sing anything, cook anything and though she was busy being a mom, she took great care of herself. She was an accomplished dancer, specializing in ball room and hip hop. She was featured in the Bakersfield Californian as one of the best aerobics instructors in Bakersfield. Billie competed in body building competitions in her 60s, when her body fat index dropped to a phenomenal 9%. She was fun, gutsy, energetic and loved entertaining at local convalescent homes. She could put a smile on your face just by walking in the room.
Billie is survived by her daughter Ginger Barnes and husband Bill, son Daniel Plant and friend Jessie and her youngest daughter Rhonda Frankhouser and husband Bill as well as multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her sister Martha Nadine Gibson, a beloved niece, Karla and nephew, Curtis.
The family would like to thank Steve Harrington for standing by her and being her best friend. A special thank you to son Daniel, Jessie and their family for being by her side through those last hard months. Your love and tender care for her will not be forgotten.
Billie was an amazingly strong woman who was not afraid of anything. She fought until the very last and is now at peace with our Heavenly Savior. She will truly be missed.
The family is holding a private memorial to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Billie's memory to Optimal Hospice Foundation.
