James Duffy Obituary

James A. Duffy, Jr., age 86 of Aberdeen, MD, passed away at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Born July 1, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late James and Wilda Duffy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vilma (Dressner) Duffy and one daughter, Judith Hopkins of Columbus, OH. Jim was predeceased in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Anderson.

Jim was a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He served two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corp. His career of over 37 years was spent with the former Bendix Engineering Corporation, now Honeywell.

Jim had several passions, especially nature and the majesty of trees, his and Vilma's cabin by the water, boating and water skiing; however the most important thing to him in life was his church. He and Vilma attended Webster Congregational Christian Church/UCC for over 34 years where he served in many leadership capacities, including, the Treasurer positions for 18 years. He was loved and respected by the entire congregation.

A graveside service will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD on Thursday, March 11 at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Webster Congregational Church/UCC, 4100 Webster Rd., Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
