I was saddened to learn of Ken's passing. We had been in touch, and I had hoped to see him, but the pandemic got in the way. It was a joy to be singing for him through so many different and memorable programs. I had only one course with him, Renaissance Music, which opened my ears to the full range of that period. But it was as guide to learning and possibilities that he stays with me in my mind and heart. If only I had followed all of the wisdom he shared... He was a good person to have had in my life.

Some people come into your life and their presence is noted. I met Ken 29 years ago and he challenged me and made me think. I will miss my conversations with him and his teachings. My recent visit to VT saddened me that he was not there-we liked to “complain” or lament together. I have saved notes/articles that he sent me throughout the years and will now cherish them. ❤❤❤

Marge, Kevin and Keith,
I am so sorry to come upon the obituary of Professor Roberts. I worked with him at the college's music department for several years. My last contact was from him sending me a note at the time of my brother's passing in 2014. Sadly, I did not keep in touch with him, but I have many good memories of working with him at the college and our many conversations, especially when he would make a trip to Germany as I had lived there for a short time. He was a force to be reckoned with, and his passing will leave quite a void for so many. Prayers, condolences and peace to you all.

Hi Marge and family- Ken was such a wonderful and kind man and you are so fortunate to have him in your lives for so long. I enjoyed many years of conversations with him when he visited Williams College Libraries. He was always engaged and always learning. He was borrowing library books incessantly even until recently. There is a chair in our office that Ken would sit in when he came to get his books where he would sit and we would chat. It will remain there. Ken cared about people and talked to everyone as his equal. He never gave up despite his challenges and this is a trait we all greatly admired. So sorry for your loss, but happy that he is at peace. I will miss him as will my colleagues.

For those of us who had the privilege to sing in the groups he conducted, he inspired us to be passionate about our music and sing notes we would not have thought possible. Singing Schoenberg’s “Friede auf Erden” through Bavaria during a winter study with the Williams College Chamber Singers was most memorable.

My condolences to the family. May the fond memories and reminiscent musical notes be a comfort and always be with you.
