Franz, I will always cherish the many conversations we had at family gatherings in Barrington. Continued peaceful rest.

Deepest sympathies. I was a roommate of Franz's at Oberlin College, and would see him regularly at his poetry readings in the Boston area. His life and his poetry both flowered beautifully in the last dozen years. He was also supportive when I too was going through serious cancer, assuring me I would be all right (when I was far from being sure myself.) I knew this was coming, but am sorry that day has arrived. He leaves a legacy for the ages.

I'm so very, very sorry ... The world is so much emptier now, so much ... I will always miss his voice.
