John Semanco Obituary

John "Jim" Semanco, 94, of Lyndora died Sunday at the Brookdale Senior Living Clare Bridge House in Midland, Mich.
He was born on March 4, 1919, in Butler, the son of the late John and Mary Uram Semanco.
John served in the U.S. Army First Division during World War II with action in North Africa and the D-Day invasion.
John was a baker in the family bakery until it closed. He then worked for the Firestone tire store in Butler, until his retirement in 1980.
John was a member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
He is survived by his two sons, James W. Semanco and his wife, Donna Semanco, of Midland Mich. and David J. Semanco of Woodbridge, Va.; his brother, Bill Semanco of Akron, Ohio; his sister, Mary Gornik of Chicago, Ill.; his four grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Anja and Aidan Semanco; his daughter-in-law, Carrie Semanco of Butler, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen S. Semanco; his sister, Ann Wolensky, and his brother, Michael Semanco.
He loved being with his many friends and family. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Clare Bridge House for the great care and love he was given throughout his stay.
SEMANCO - The friends of John "Jim" Semanco, who died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. John the Baptist Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora, with Abbott Leo Schlosser officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Parastas services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jim and Donna, You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your father. Your father and I talked many mornings as he would visit your mother at RoseHill after her passing. I will miss our long talks. This part of his journey is finished he will rest now.
