Bishop Glen H. Morris, 74, the Senior Pastor of Chesapeake Christian Center and resident of Pasadena for the past 22 years, died Dec. 2 at John Hopkins Hosptial from complications of surgery.
He was born March 29, 1935, Pastor Morris accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior in Oct. 1964. He received his calling to ministry on Jan. 1964.
He received his education at the Berean School of the Bible and through correspondence courses with Lee University. He began pastoring on July 1966 at the Rockville Chruch of God in Rockville, MD. In 1971 he was assigned to the Federalsburg Church of God in Federalsburg, Md. In 1975, Pastor Morris left pastoring for a 2-year period in which he served as State Evangelist for Delmarva-DC until March 1977 when he returned as the pastor of the Federalsburg Church of God. In August 1987, Pastor Glen and his wife Portia Morris began their pastorate at Chesapeake Christian Center
Through the years he has served the Church of God in the Delmarva Region in many capacities: State Council for 3 terms, State Evangelism and Home Missions for 3 terms, District Overseer, District Youth & Christian Education Director, State Ministerial Examining Board, a Cluster Pastor and a CAMS instructor. In his faithful service he preached 6,158 sermons and saw 2,504 people give their lives to Jesus Christ.
He is preceeded in death by his father, Vermon Morris; his mother, Ethel Morris; and his first wife, Virgie Morris.
He is survived by his wife, Portia Mae Morris; his four children: Gary Morris, Greg Morris, Dawn Boehm, and Joel Morris; nine grandchildren: Amy Morris, Lindsay Taylor, Melody Clavier, Ryan Boehm, Sean Morris, Sarah Boehm, Jordan Morris, Joshua Morris, and Maci Morris; and seven great grandchildren: Nasya Jones, Mikayla Clavier, Owen Taylor, Emily Clavier, Aubrey Taylor, Jadyn Hugee, and Jacob Clavier. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m at Chesapeake Christian Center 8201 Edwin Raynor Blvd, Pasadena, MD 21122. and where funeral services will be held at the on Saturday, Dec. 5th at 6 p.m. The graveside will be held at the Holly Memorial Park in Charlottesville, Va. on Monday, Dec.7 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Chesapeake Christian Center Building Fund to complete his vision.
