Anne Moore Obituary

Anne Boyd Moore, 57, of Charlotte passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 22, 2017. Anne, the firstborn child of Robert Burwell (Ty) Boyd, Sr. and Patricia Cowden Boyd, is survived by her husband of 10 years, Rick; daughters, Alexa and Eliza Gellman; and her bonus children (as Anne affectionately called them) Lauren and Holden Moore. Anne is also survived by her parents; siblings and their families, Robert and Kate Boyd, Eliot and Kerry Boyd, Molly and Jim Hunt; and sisters, Tempe and Mimi; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Anne was born in Chapel Hill and came to Charlotte at age one where she resided her whole life. After graduating from Charlotte Catholic High School, Anne began her college education at Appalachian State University. While there, she began her career in radio and communications. Anne completed her communications degree at UNCC. Following graduation, Anne pursued a career in radio and communications and worked at WFAE, WLYT and later at Ty Boyd, Inc. where she worked with her father and mother and became the CEO. Anne loved being a communications facilitator and taught clients all over the world. Her constant work and travel companion for many years was also her best friend in life-sister Molly. Anne truly loved people and her giving, loving nature and fun-loving spirit attracted people to her like a magnet everywhere she went. She was loved by all her knew her.

Although devoted to her career, Anne was most fulfilled and happy being the mother of two beautiful girls-the pride of her life. Daughters Alexa and Eliza gave Anne's life its true meaning and the three were inseparable.

Diagnosed in early August 2016 with an extremely rare form of thyroid cancer (ATC), Anne faced her uphill battle in the same manner as she lived her life-with strength, courage, grace, and love. Some of Anne's closest associates during this time were the surgeons and medical specialists who skillfully treated her while developing a deep personal bond. The family would particularly like to recognize Dr. Maria Cabanillas and Madonna Pool at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Drs. Ashley Stewart and Daniel Brickman at Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, Dr. Carolina Fasola at Southeast Radiology in Charlotte, Sarah Albano, Anne's hospice nurse.

A celebration of Anne's life will be held on October 27, 2017 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Charlotte at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving visitors in the Fellowship Hall before the service at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the American Thyroid Association, 6066 Leesburg Pike, Suite 550, Falls Church, Virginia 22041.

Arrangements are in the care Robertson Funeral and Cremation Service; (704) 752-7710. Online condolences can be shared at www.throbertson.com

To the Boyd Moore Family,

I just learned of Anne's passing. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to her friends and family. Ann was an eyelash extension client of mine until I moved away from Charlotte in 2013. I remember her as gorgeous, humble ray of light with a great sense of humor. Every time I saw her name on my book I knew it was going to be a fun time. Peace and blessings to all who knew her.

To the Boyd Family,

I was very saddened to learn of Anne's passing at such a very young age. I remember her as an intelligent, vibrant young woman, a product of great parents. My heart goes out to you all.

To the Boyd Family,

Ty and Anne were my first speaking coaches in 2002. It was a week that would single handedly change my life, my confidence in myself and my career. As a young woman in the corporate world, not knowing much about image or poise, Anne gave me feedback, coaching and support I never knew I needed. She was amazing and I walked out of that class hoping to one day be like her with her class, poise and huge heart.

Speed up 16 years and 3 kids later, I found myself in a professional position to have the Ty Boyd group work with a few groups with my new employer Verizon. Anne quickly called me back and connected. She and Molly came to us in NJ and gave a compelling, emotionally moving class to a goup of 12. This class was a game changer. Every individual who attended and has attended since maintains their experience with the Boyd girls as amazing. Boy did she make everyone feel special as did Molly. They learned this from their parents, I could tell.

Before that class was launched she had come to the office spend a few minutes with me catching up and reconnecting after so many years . I was so very sure she wouldn't remember who I was 16 years ago I was a young girl who is more of a performing artist than a public speaker . I was wrong . Even if she didn't quite remember who I was, she definitely made a point to connect with me. During the time she was there I was going through something very personal and painful. I won't forget when she looked in my eyes and said she would pray for me . I had not even shared anything with her to make her think that I needed her prayers. Little did she know I lost faith long ago . Just her warm smile and stating something like that moved me deeply and I never shared that with her. The next day she invited me to that class that introduced me help me use my Public speaking skills that had grown over so many years . My emotions ran very high as soon as she introduced me. She seemed so pleased that I maintained and built upon the competency of speaking that she and her father enabled me with.
I want Ty, Molly and family to know how much I truly truly appreciate that I got a chance to work with Anne so many years later.

The world lost a beautiful lady. I know for sure that I won't forget her. Thank you Boyd Family on behalf of all of the Ty Boyd students who share this same appreciation of Anne. Thank you Anne for that prayer. Love, Alicia Green

October 27, 2017

As one of Anne's original Kingswood neighbors, I've known her for a very long time. Unfortunately I've only seen and talked to Anne a couple of times since the Kingswood days - for about 5 minutes every few years, usually running into each other at H-T. Saying good-bye after catching up on our families, I can clearly remember thinking as I walked away how warm and genuine Anne always was and that despite a few more years having passed us by, how Anne just seemed to get even more radiant with age. Our hearts ache for Anne and all of her family.

I met Anne while we were both in radiation therapy. Despite her own illness she took the time to befriend me and support me and many others. Quietly, steadily and with a devotion usually reserved for a years long friendship, Anne gave me hope, lifted me up, and never once complained about her own plight. She was a beautiful, light filled, happy warrior to the end.

Anne was a wonderful, loving person. I was lucky enough to know her for almost ten years. She was kind and considerate. Just after moving into their new house, she and Rick came over to check on my grandmother--then a complete stranger--who lived next door to them when they saw an ambulance come one night, and I didn't know it then, but that changed the course of my life. Thank you.
