E. Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wiley Funeral Home - Glen Rose on Mar. 14, 2026.
With joyful hearts and tear filled eyes we announce that Pete Moore has been welcomed home into Heaven, healed and whole! Pete passed peacefully at his home on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on January 10, 1951, in Lordsburg, New Mexico, Pete was the beloved son of Gene and Faye Moore. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, his father-in-law Billy Miller, his siblings Diana Lynn Moore, infant twins, Billy Wayne Moore, and Donna Ruth Thompson, and his son and best friend, Jordan Moore.

Pete is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 48 years, Nancy Miller Moore. Together, Pete and Nancy built a life filled with adventure, travel, and shared memories, marrying in July of 1977 in Glen Rose, Texas. They committed to raise their three children in a Christ-centered home, a foundation that has blessed them with their greatest treasures: 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Nancy, along with their daughters Kellie Pollock and her children Shane & Jamie Moore (Jaslene, Lane, & Lily), Ella & Jacob Wheeler, Hudson & Cierra Morris (Sage), Campbell Morris, and Miller Pollock; Katie & Kolby Stewart and their children Ty Moore, Emma Kate (Noah), Stella, Ben, Henley, Drew, Faye-Grace, Lanie-Beth, Mackie and Claire Stewart; daughter-in-law Katy Moore Mitchell and her children with the late Jordan Moore Penny, Lette, and Carter Moore, continue to carry forward Pete's legacy of love and devotion.

A proud alumni of Lordsburg High School, Pete graduated in 1969, and went on to attend Western New Mexico State University, where he lettered in football and shot put. In 1974, he achieved a degree in Business and a coaching certification, becoming a first-generation college graduate.

Pete's professional journey was diverse and impactful. From serving under his father as a sheriff's deputy in Lordsburg to rescuing children in the Philippines during his time in Iran with Brown and Root, Pete's career was marked by service and adventure. He partnered in building a series of car washes in Amarillo, excelled as a top salesman for Preferred Risk Insurance in Dallas, and ultimately fulfilled his dream of owning Glen Rose Auto Parts. For 25 years, Pete thrived as a small business owner on the bustling Glen Rose square, offering not just products but also stories, jokes, and heartfelt connections to those he served.

A devout member of the Baptist church, Pete and Nancy were active in various ministries at Coulter Road Baptist in Amarillo, Hampton Road Baptist in DeSoto, and First Baptist Church of Glen Rose. Pete's commitment to his community extended to his service on the Glen Rose ISD school board, where he dedicated his time and talents to bettering the lives of local students.

Pete's life was rich with hobbies and interests, from hunting with his family to enjoying sports like golf and racquetball. Yet, his most cherished role was that of "Papa," a title he wore with pride and joy. Pete's love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was boundless, and his legacy lives on in the memories they hold dear.

Pete Moore's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and family. His faithful spirit, generous love, and quick wit will be profoundly missed but eternally remembered. As we grieve his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the unforgettable impact he made on all who knew him.

A memorial service to honor Pete's life will be held at First Baptist Church of Glen Rose on Monday, March 16th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the service will be at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Pete's memory to First Baptist Church, specifically for the purchase of a van for youth and missions.
