David STAUBITZ Obituary

STAUBITZDavid Harry was born August 13, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harry and Felice (Carr) Staubitz. He taught high school Spanish for 31 years. Twenty-one years at Princeton High School. While at Princeton High School he developed the Spanish International Baccalaureate Program and took students to Mexico. David was a Boy Scout leader for 18 years and took troop members to the BWCAW- for canoe trips. He was active in the Princeton faculty music productions as an actor and director and in the Loveland Stage Company community theater as an actor and director. He was also a very active member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Milford, Ohio where he sang in the choir. David married Gertrude Dreier Trudy on August 10, 1962. They moved to Ely, MN in 1994 where David served on the board of the Dorothy Molter Museum, sang with the Harmonizers and the Sound Prints. He also had a Sunday big band show on radio station WELY for several years. David taught Spanish for Community Education at Vermilion Community College. Worked for the Ely Chamber of Commerce and was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Ely and an elder and canter at First Lutheran Church, Ely. Since moving to Ely, David was active in NLAA musicals as an actor and director and sang in the Ely Community Choir. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, hunting and gardening. David became ill on his second trip to Honduras working as a volunteer translator for the International Health Service. David is survived by his wife Trudy, sons Donald, Mark, and Kenneth and their respective families. Memorials are requested for International Health Services P.O. Box 44339, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. Memorial service will be at Saint Marks Lutheran Church in Milford, OH, Monday, February 26 at 11 A.M. Visitation 10 A.M. until time of service.
