We shared a 2 family home with Julian in New Paltz on Jenkinstown Rd. He was a very nice and extremely talented man. He was always eager to share a wine with us. We are sorry for your loss. We have lived in Florida since 1983 and have often thought of Julian and how lucky we were to have know him. Good luck to you and your family. Kathy and George Carbone, Cape Coral , Florida.

My memories of Julian are some of the dearest and most unforgettable of my life. A man of great compassion, humor and his love for food and wine to share with family and friends. Who knew that he was so fluent in so many languages, and how long did it take us too figure out that he was such a good actor! I will always remember your smile , your great eyebrows and the joy that you gave to all that were fortunate too have called you a friend. I will miss you but I will never forget you...

Dear Audrey, and family,
St. Julian's awesome drawing, the teachings and times he shared with me, and his love of humor and surprise, will always be cherished memories for me. I gave one of my 2 'St. Julian drawings' to the Dorsky Museum, though it was hard to part with. He will always have an appreciative audience - whether it is in the museums or in our memories. with deepest sympathy for your loss...

I will always treasure childhood memories of the great times I had at St. Julian's. It took me years before I realized that he really wasn't speaking Chinese- he was so good that it was quite plausible. St. Julian's house was the center of social life for both adults and kids. The evening barbecues, whiffle ball games, camping, fishing, hide & seek are all memories I will treasure forever.

I love "characters", and Uncle Julian was my favorite character of all time! I loved to watch him paint or restore a painting. I have lots of pictures of us all dressed up in silly costumes for Halloween and parties, and the way he made Grandma Beeble laugh, kept her alive for extra years! To Audrey & Janet, & family, I send my love and good wishes.

Adieu, my sweet Papa: You and I know that I shall have you tucked firmly in my heart for the rest of my life. I cannot believe my luck that YOU were my father. You will be given all the recognition that you deserve in future writings, photographs and ...stories. Adieu in Love, Audrey, Your Eldest Daughter...

St. Julian was such an incongruous mixture of wild creativity and quiet contemplation. His ability to draw people into his performance-art style impersonations, endless jokes and always sardonic wit made him a joy to be around. He really was the funniest man I ever knew. His artwork was stunning and watching him create it was a pleasure. I feel very lucky to be a part of this family and ...St. Julian, you will be missed.

Dear Audrey and family, I will always treasure my time with St. Julian - drawing beside him, modeling for him or wearing a silly hat - there was always something to smile about. I am so very sorry for your loss, he will be missed by many...

I met Mr. Fishburne while he was a resident of the Thompson House. As a former president of the Dutchess County Historical Society, it was a GREAT experience for me as he had done restoration of the Society's Ami Philips oil portrait of Helen Cornell, a beautiful canvas. I hope some day his work and memoirs will be published so that his years of work can be documented and preserved for future generations in the field of history and art.

Dear Audrey, Janet, Jacquelyn, Whitney, and Orry,
I'm so sorry that I cannot be there with you all during these tough times! I know that you all may be feeling those waves of grief every moment of every day. As time goes on, it gets better if you remember all the joy and beauty that your Dad shared with you, and all of us, during his time here on earth. St. Julian is a man who made his mark on this earth, not only through the love and attention he put into each stroke of his paintbrush, but also through his gentle guidance in raising all of you to be the special people that you are today. You are his legacy. Be proud of that!
I love you all,
Aunt Lorie

As I've said to my cousins, Uncle Julian was a principle in my favorite childhood memories. The smell of paint, pipe tobacco, the fire in the fireplace and the NY Times on Sunday mornings. The frivolity, hijinks and performances of our gatherings, not to mention Betty's exemplary cooking. I know he has become reacquainted with those beloved friends and family who preceded him and for that I am grateful. I'll see all my sisters later this spring/summer. Love you all.
