Diane,
I saw Scott Nolte at church tonight and he told me about Steve's tragic death. My sweet friend, I am so sorry. I have read every one of these tributes. What an incredible man he was!

Dear Carol: I was so saddened to hear of Steven's passing. I pray that our Lord, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, reveals Himself to you in an even greater measure and that He saturates you and your entire family in that "Peace that passes all understanding." Please know that you and yours are in our thoughts and prayers. Love in Him,

We also rode with Steve in the OSU club in the 70s, and have such great memories of that time. Many rides to Prospect for ice cream, sprint signs, and introducing Steve to Chinese food! We greatly looked forward to his annual holiday card to hear of his latest adventures of long distance riding. This is a sad loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Steve, may you always have tailwinds.

To Steve's family, he was truly a gift, may you find comfort in all of these tributes. I also rode with Steve in the 70"s with the OSU club. Steve will remain a "paramount" in Ohio's cycling history

My old memories of Steve in the OSU cycling club are as clear as if they were yesterday. His passion for bicycling endured and endeared him to many that shared it with him. We used to tease Steve about his black cycling socks, Steve was ahead of his times as they are now all the vogue.

OUR SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY
STEVE WAS A VERY DEAR FRIEND - WAY BACK TO THE 70'S.
HE ALWAYS SAID "HI" TO US ON BIKE RIDES.
WE LIVE IN ZANESVILLE AND ONLY SAW HIM ON BIKE RIDES.
HE WAS A GOOD MAN AND WE WILL MISS HIM.

To Steve's family, I grieve with you today. He made everyone feel welcome on a ride, and never left anyone to ride by themselves. My dad, Ed Honton, always spoke well of Steve. As I sit here crying for your loss, my daughter reminds me that "He is in heaven...at least they can talk with each other now." (Speaking of my dad and Steve.)

Steve was Saint Schwinn.......

He never allowed anyone to be dropped and never failed to encourage the meekest among us.

He was always there and is irreplaceable. Central Ohio cycling is diminished without him.

Wishing him tailwinds.

I met Steve while in law school at OSU and rode many a mile with him. Once you met him, you would not not forget him. He died sadly and much too soon.

To Steve's family, of which, I had the delightful pleasure of meeting this past week, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers daily. He was a friend to everyone who knew him. Know that Steve was truely loved by the cycling community in Ohio.

It is the people you share the journey with that make time memorable and Steve was one of those people. Those of us who rode with him at OSU in the 70's will always value his memory.

To the Family:
I had the pleasure of knowing Steve during my career at ODOT. He was one of a kind ... funny, full of knowledge and loved to tell stories about his biking adventures. I will continue to keep the family in my prayers. Remember the Lord's promise, "He will never leave or forsake us!" God Bless

Steve was a friend from the Ohio State Cycling Club and I will always remember his kindness, his dedication to bicycling, his willingness to try new things (e.g. skiing!) and the special quirky manner he displayed which endeared him to his friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
