William Nagy Obituary
1931 - 2018
William Joseph Nagy, D.O., 86 of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, FL. Formerly of Worthington, OH he had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 2000. William was born November 10, 1931 in Youngstown, OH the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Bender) Nagy. Dr. Nagy was a United States Army Veteran, Missile Battalion. He was a graduate of Youngstown State University and earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the University of Chicago. Dr. Nagy was an Internal Medicine Specialist at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, OH, retiring in 1999. Together with his wife, they shared a love for Grand Cayman and had a home on Seven Mile Beach. William was an avid golfer who also enjoyed scuba diving, tutoring children and attending Lamb of God Lutheran Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Ruth Carlson Nagy who passed away May 23, 2010. Survivors include his loving children, William C. (Yesenia) Nagy of Edgewood, KY, David Allen (Abby) Nagy of Portland, OR and Barbara Lynn (Michael) Schini of Naples, FL; and grandchildren, Sydney, Alexandria, Griffin, Mariana and Andy. Dr. William Nagy was one of my primary internal medicine trainers at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. I felt he was always looking after me since he is from my hometown of Youngstown and even went to the same medical school. As Dr. Slick said, he was a real pioneer in the field of osteopathic internal medicine. In my eyes an outstanding leader and role model as a physician and human being. Bill will be missed.

I got to know Bill when we were on the Board of Directors of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. He was one of the great pioneers of osteopathic internal medicine. He gained the upmost respect of his colleagues. It was his suggestion that we formed the Grover Gillum Society that honored those that were life long leaders in the ACOI. It is outstanding people like Bill that will be surely missed. My deepest condolences to the Nagy family. He was a great friend.
