Daniel Tice Obituary

Tice, Daniel
1951 - 2020
Daniel Cameron Tice, born June 26, 1951, died Friday August 28, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane F. and Edward P. Tice Jr. He is survived by his sisters Patty Offenberg (John) of Bexley, Kathy Phillips of Greensboro, NC. and special friend, Jan Caddell of Columbus. He attended the Columbus Academy, graduated from the Elgin Academy, Elgin, IL, attended Bradley University and CCAD. Dan had a wide variety of friends and pursuits. His humor, friendships, athleticism, and free nature allowed Dan's artistic eye and joy for life to shine no matter what career path he was on at the time. He was owner of Cameron and Hyde in the Short North and an accomplished framer of fine art. All who knew Dan enjoyed his keen sense of humor, love of golf, loyal friendship and devotion to his "canine children". Dan found support and friendship in AA , and Serenity Street. He had an abiding faith in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Dan was the "cool uncle". He will be greatly missed by all, including one niece, four nephews and their respective families. In lieu of flowers, Dan asked donations be made to Serenity Street Foundation with the mission of helping men in recovery. Serenitystreet.org or to Canine Companions cci.org

Danny was what could be called a very interesting character,He was always available for great conversations . He was an expert framer and my house has numerous paintings and prints to prove it.He had the smoothest golf swing of the Short North Tavern League and Never lost that calm look,
We all will miss him.

For what seems now like the briefest of times, Danny was the bartender at Kuennings, where we who were not new parents would linger on a Friday or Saturday night and forget about our less than brilliant careers. He had a welcoming deep voice and knew us all. He was tolerant of our foolishness up to a point, but did not hesitate to take our car keys away. Those were some good bohemian times. Thank you Danny. May you rest in peace.

Dan was two years older than me and lived in the house just across the alley from ours in Bexley. Our older sisters were best friends. He would let me help feed his Cocker Spaniels, Cookie and Clem. He was always the coolest guy at all the dances when we were teens and we later got reacquainted because he came in to the library where I work. Lots of books about woodworking and art! He will be missed.

My sympathies go out to Patty, John, Kathy and their families. Danny and I created many good memories together in our early 20’s. He was unique, kind, artistic and a gentleman. I will always love him. Danny, wherever you are, know that you are honored for your journey on this Earth! Thank you for the adventures we shared. See you on the other side! ❤

Danny was truly a unique individual, funny, crazy, creative. I knew him my entire life and will miss him terribly. In fact, I used to dance every dance with him at Mrs. Potts Dancing School. He was a peach.
Danny will be sorely missed. My hope is that he is in Heaven with his parents and Jamie Carr, and that he is at peace. May God bless his soul and relieve him of his pain.

Dear Patty, Kathy and Jan,
Danny and I were the closest of friends since we were 10 years old when we had our Stingray bicycles. Then he graduated to Kathy’s black Ford Sunliner convertible. We lived together on High Street with Art Cosler during college days. I was always amazed at his athletic ability -greatest athlete I have ever known. I have so many great memories and had the best of times with him. I am devastated to hear this news. May the many great memories of him get us through this difficult time.
Very truly,
Nate and Carolyn Spachner
