DORA LOPEZ

She was a simple person with the flair of the Mona Lisa. But what we remember most is a joyful person who loved to dance and just enjoy life. Dora Elia Lopez, 59, died in her sleep Feb. 20, 2016 after a battle with cancer. She worked at Taylor Publishing Company for 30 years before its El Paso operations were closed. Dora was that little bit in the details that made it all work out. We will miss her dearly. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. for Dora on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Perches Funeral Home at 2280 Joe Battle Blvd. with visiting hours between 4-9p.m. Her funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 7424 Mimosa Ave. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery East. She is survived by her daughter Tiffany Lopez; Julie Lopez, her sister and caretaker; brother Sonny Lopez; sister Rosa Morrill and her husband John Morrill; sister Carmen Ramos; and brother Robert Lopez and his wife Veronica Lopez. Dora leaves behind five nieces and six nephews. Dora's special love was her 9-year-old nephew Zachary Medrano, and the family would like to recognize their unique, loving relationship spent watching, trying to out-knowledge each other and just argue about athletic events - especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks. The family would like to include Dora's life-long friend and companion Robert Zavala.
