Katherine Erickson Obituary
Katherine "Katie" Gresh Erickson, 89, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Pleasant Ridge Manor.
She was born on August 5, 1925, in Girard Township, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Arendash) Gresh.
As a young girl, Katie helped on the Gresh family farm on Tannery Road, milking cows and doing many chores. She later went to work for the Gunnison Brother's Tannery in 1942, where she worked the next 16 years as a leather finisher. She left her employment there to raise and take care of her family.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard and attended the Divine Word Mission in Girard with her family, as a young girl.
She assisted with many parish dinners and funeral luncheons over the years, and also was a member of the Lake City Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary and the Girard American Legion Post#494 Auxiliary. Katie loved flower gardening, polka music, going to camp and making jigsaw puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Baskit, Margaret Artello, Mary Legnasky, Betty Jaglowski, Dorothy Klobusnik also brothers, John and Joseph Gresh.
She is survived by her husband, Edward L. Erickson, whom she married on August 23, 1958, in Girard; her daughter, Cecelia A. Platz (Roger); son, Bernard E. Erickson (Paula); brothers, Frank Gresh and Edward Gresh (Marie), both of Girard; grandchildren, Brian Platz (Connie), Michael Platz (Adrianne), Michael Schember, Jacob Erickson; and great-grandson, Logan C. Platz; and also many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard. A Prayer Service will be held there on Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 101 Olin Ave., Girard at 10 a.m., with Rev. William Miller presiding.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Johns Catholic Church, or to the Regional Home Health & Hospice, 3526 Peach St., Erie, PA 16508, or to the charity of one's choice.

Hi Mom,
Well I am adding one more year and this makes 9 years you have not been with us here on earth, but you have never left our hearts. Your picture is on my desk of you and Mike and I say Hi to you everyday. The kids are getting bigger each day and even Jakes little one has grown so much. I miss ya Mom. I am planning to retire at the end of this year and then I can spend more time with Roger and dad. Keep watching over all of us and keep us safe from any harm. I love you Mom and keep smiling. Hi Mom,
Once again I get to send a message your way after 8 long years without you. You were absolutely right when you said I'd miss you when you were gone and not a day goes by that I am not thinking of you in one way or another. I miss our talks on the phone each day and just seeing you with Dad. He is doing ok, but missing you too. I tell ya he is my rock and I am calling or going over there everyday to make sure he is ok. He tells me to stop worrying about him but I just say its my job cause Mom left that job to me when she left. The grandkids are getting so big. Logan is 10, Brayden will be 7 in a couple weeks and Anna-Marie just turned 3 just before Christmas. I think she takes after you cause she is always running no matter where she is. The rest of us are doing ok too. Tell Paula Happy Birthday for us as today is her birthday. We miss her too. Jake and Ashley's little boy, Bentley is getting so big and cute as a bug. Hi Mom,
It has now been 7 long years since you were taken to heaven from us. You are in all our hearts and not forgotten as each and every day we are thinking of you. I know you are watching out for all of us and was the Guardian Angel to help and protect Roger during his heart surgery. He is doing better, but had another episode yesterday that we hope we can get fixed soon too. I really miss you Mom. I have your picture on my desk at work and look at it every morning wishing you a good day. Dad is doing good and misses you too. Jake and Ashley are going to have a little boy sometime this year in August, so you will have another little great grandson to watch over. Take care of all our loved ones up there that have been sent your way. Today is Paula's birthday so let her know we said Happy Birthday. I love you and miss you Mom. God Bless and keep you forever. Hi Mom,
It has been almost 6 years now that you have left us and not a day goes by that we all are not thinking of you and all the wonderful things you did for everyone. We miss you deeply, but we know you are in a much better place with God and helping to take care of Tucker and Harley. I am sure you are watching over all of us here and especially smiling over your beautiful Great Grand-daughter Anna Marie. She is surely the apple of all of our eyes and loved so deeply.
