David Ridinger Obituary

David H. Ridinger, 67, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at his home. He was the husband of Carolyn J. (Vallie) Ridinger for 17 years. His first wife, Dorothy J. Ridinger, died in 1986. Born June 21, 1937, in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Howard G. and Amy (Sheads) Ridinger. He was a 1956 graduate of Gettysburg High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served from 1956-1960. He retired in 2001 after 42 years of service with Sprint. He was a member of the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, volunteer with the Gettysburg Soup Kitchen, and longtime member of the Adams County Fish & Game. In addition to his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by a daughter, Judy L. Fox of Gettysburg; a son, Jeffrey D. Ridinger of Hershey; a stepdaughter, Kristin Stewart of Mont Alto; two stepsons, Chad Grothen of Plainfield, Inc., and Cory Grothen of Mocksville, N.C.; a sister, Peg Paris of Gettysburg; and three brothers, Philip and Richard Ridinger, both of New Jersey, and Jack Ridinger of Lancaster. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Deitch; and a brother, William Ridinger. Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Joel F. Nogle officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. A private interment will be in The Evergreen Cemetery. Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gettysburg Soup Kitchen, c/o Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, 20 W. High St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
