She grew up in Society Hill and attended Winthrop College. She moved to Darlington with her husband, Harold Prentiss Jaillette, and their four children, where she has lived for the past fifty years. Mrs. Jaillette was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers: Samuel Zimmerman Black, Walter LeGrande Black; and a sister Betty Black.
Surviving are her children: Harold Prentiss Jaillette, Jr. (Sarah), Ann Jaillette Dennis (Chip), Mary Jaillette Altman (Bill), and Samuel Stewart Jaillette; eight grandchildren: Harold Prentiss Jaillette (Sheri), William Dane Altman (Dorie), Amy Elizabeth Johnston (Schipp), Edward Colgate Dennis III (Judy), Jenny McIver Altman, Bobbie Jaillette Altman, Elizabeth McIver Harry (Brice), Samantha Dell Jaillette and her fiancee David Campbell. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, Bella Jaillette; Lizzie, Emma, and Schipman Johnston; Laurel and Jed Dennis; Wilson and Clara Harry; and Madison, Harrison and Jameson Altman.
The family will receive friends at the Dennis Home, 1532 Woods Pond Drive, Darlington, Tuesday, June 3 from 6-8pm.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 4 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church conducted by The Reverend Andrew Rivers Odell. Graveside services will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I can stlll remember hanging out at your house, as we were growing up. Great memories!

I wanted to express my deepest sympthy to you and all of your family and am so sorry that I will not be able to be with you. Mary and I have been good friends since we were children in Society Hill and I will miss her so much. We had wonderful times together for many years.
