Michael Mascolo Obituary

Michael John Mascolo

Melbourne, FL

Michael was special, sincere and a kind and loving person who left an impression on all those who met him. Born in Atlantic City, NJ on March 11, 1962, Michael Mascolo grew up in South Jersey (Manahawkin), moving to the Cocoa Beach / Melbourne, FL area some 35 years ago.

Brought up in the restaurant business, he was perhaps best known in his early years for his restaurant "THE ITALIAN GARDEN" located behind the Publix in Banana River Square in Cocoa Beach which he opened in the early 1980s which was quite an accomplishment for such a young man. He later worked with Circles of Care in Melbourne for some 20+ years and in fact, he considered them to be his 2nd family and vice versa.

A presence, a smile, a kind heart were the earmarks of Michael. Over the last several months as Michael battled Terminal Lung Cancer, he was cared for by his Sister, Donna and her Wife, Maria in Cocoa Beach. Surrounded by the love of his family, in particular his siblings, Wayne as well as Jimmie and Diane, Michael died peacefully on Sunday afternoon and is now in the presence of the Lord and reunited with his parents, James and Marilyn.

Special thanks to the devoted caregivers of Vitas Hospice and its partners, in particular, Earla and David for their compassion and guidance through this very difficult transition.

May Michael be remembered as a man with a kind and sincere heart. Private services to be held. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Vitas Hospice of Melbourne, FL.

My thoughts are with all of the Mascolo family, especially my friend Diane, as you all mourn the loss of Michael. I will long remember him as such a sweet soul. Take comfort that he is once again with your parents, those who loved him most. You all remain in heart.

Micheal was so special to me. I was a coworker at Circles of Care, and will forever be in my heart. I hope, in heaven, I can eat at his dream reasturant. No meat...as he knows...love always, Sally
