We're still keeping your legacy alive and fighting the good fight. I wonder what you would say about a Black woman running for president or about the changes on campus. We still feel your love and spirit. Thank you for everything.

Though decades have passed, it seems like just yesterday that we were in Liberia, living a rich childhood – you, the baby sister trying to hang with me and Asa IV on minibikes. I know that he, Asa III, and all of the ancestors welcomed you with open, loving arms. To the Hilliard and Nunn families, take courage in knowing that Trish has left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of many for time to come. Sleep in perfect peace and say hello to Brigitte for me.

Dear Kenneth and Family;
My sincerest well wishes for you all in moving forward without the physical presence of your precious gem. I trust that her ancestors are ready to make her transition joyous and peaceful. I am hopeful that you all can take solace in the remembrances of her and your appreciation of the opportunity you had to know and love her. May the thoughts and prayers heaped upon you now keep you positive loving and strong until you all are able to meet Patricia again.

Dear Nunn Family:
My condolences on the passing of Mrs. Nunn. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Patricia I know she was ever so impactful as a wife, mother, friend, and educator. In the days, weeks, months, and years ahead, please allow yourselves the opportunities to bask in the warm memories that you share with your dearly departed loved one, Patricia. These opportunities will arise at various times and places. They do for me as well. Just today at Costco I whipped out my iPhone just to show a complete rank stranger the picture of our six children, children my dearly departed wife recently left behind. After I explained that I recently became a widower he probably understood why I approached him to begin with. Other opportunities might be in listening to your favorite song, having a certain meal, looking at an old episode of the John Elroy Sandford aka Redd Foxx Show, etc., etc. Embrace the memories; cry through them (and you will) while at the same time remember that the suffering of these moments will not compare to the glory we will experience as a child of God forever, most blessed and eternal. Although I never met Patricia I’m sure she was trying her best to be that Proverbs 31 woman most sisters I know are trying to become. God, who has begun a good work in us is obliged now to make it perfect. Be comforted in this knowledge. Amen!

Patricia was a spiritual soul that everyone who came in contact with her felt comfortable and at peace. You were drawn to her magnetic personality. She was extremely knowledgeable but never overbearing and never ever pretentious, just calm and receptive of everyone. Not often are you spiritually bless to meet a person like Patricia. One who loved serving, sharing, participating, and doing to make us all more aware of what was important around us. Many eloquent words will be said about her, but one would have had to experience watching her, listening to her, and seeing the results of her immeasurable energy put forth to complete her many projects. God has blessed her family and will continue to bless them for their dedication shown to this community and around the country.

To the Family, please accept my most heartfelt condolences on the passing of your loved one. Tricia and I were classmates at Hampton University. Our class was to celebrate its 35 year reunion this past Summer; however, due to the pandemic the physical activities were cancelled/postponed. Nonetheless, in preparation for the gathering, I found myself reflecting on those individuals that you “may not see” , but “you think about” often. Tricia was one of those individuals. Her smile alone could light up an otherwise gloom day and her passion for a cause could move mountains. May she rest in eternal peace. The gates of Heaven have welcomed home a faithful servant who’s job was well done

Dearest Hillard-Nunn family Trisha always had a conversation and a listening ear, kind words for everyone most especially for the elderly. I knew her as a woman who loved people. She had a kind soft powerful voice that spoke for justice for all people. She taught the youth to dance, women to use your voice for social justice, the elderly that you have power to change polices in your community with your vote. Her life can be summed up as in Micah 6: 8 "What does the Lord require of you To act Justly and To love Mercy and To walk humbly with your God." So thankful to have been in her presence.

I thank God for your life, your work, and your sweet-sweet spirit. Soror Trish was my Dean of Pledges and led me (and my line sisters) into the wonderful world of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was also the daughter of my mentor, Baba Asa. I am forever grateful for the privilege of knowing and loving her and take solace in knowing that she is at peace and with her father. I extend sincerest condolences to her entire family and thank you for sharing this angel with us!

My sister, my friend, our beautiful Black Queen, you are already missed. You have never been selfish with yourself, your time, your heart, and your knowledge. I will miss your smile, your sincere concern for all, your love of teaching and learning, your African dancing, your ability to engage, your humility, and your kindness. I can't imagine a 5th Avenue Arts Festival reception without you.
The Creator has blessed us with you for this period in our life. I thank the Creator for this blessing and I thank you for being you. I will be praying for your family and know that they were and will always be covered by your love. Thank you my sister and friend!

Dr. Hilliard Nunn was an angel sent to earth. I loved and respected her work and insight. She was always thoughtful, respectful, diligent, resourceful. She was never divisive, judgmental or inconsiderate. When she spoke, people listened. She united people together in a common goal of understanding the past and working towards the future. Godspeed my friend. We will always love you.
