Kevin Ewing Obituary

Kevin Scott Ewing August 6, 1966 – November 29, 2011 Kevin Ewing passed away November 29, 2011 at his Stafford, TX, home; he was 45. Kevin was born on August 6, 1966, in Glenwood Springs, CO, and spent his childhood in the Glenwood Springs and Pueblo areas. He graduated from Grand Junction Central High School in 1985, and after graduation enlisted in the United States Navy serving on the USS Carl Vinson. He served in the Navy for nine years, a portion of this time was spent in the Persian Gulf War and he spent the last four years of service to his country at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO. Kevin graduated from Metro State College in Denver with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry in 1999 and began a career as Chemist. Kevin worked at General Air in Denver to start his career. After several years in Denver, Kevin moved to western Turkey where he worked for Hat Group, a helium chemical gas importer. While there, he designed and developed a specialty gas addition to the company. In late 2010, Kevin moved back to the United States and worked at Coastal Welding in Beaumont, TX. After working there for less than a year, he found his 'dream job' with Baker Hughes Incorporated. He was working in the Research & Development part of the company and was looking forward to all the travel it entailed. Kevin was passionate about his work, but also enjoyed physical exercise, outdoor activities, skiing, reading, and keeping in touch with his family and friends. Kevin leaves behind his mother and stepfather, Ann and Richard White, Palisade, CO; his grandmother, Helen Wassenaar, Grand Junction, CO; his father and stepmother, Robert and Lucille Ewing, Pueblo West, CO; and his sisters: Bobbi Lynn (Steve) Belport, Beula, CO, and Jennifer Phillips and husband of Pueblo West, CO; Kevin's birth father, Marvin (Shirley) Strouse, Potlatch, ID; his brother, Brandon Strouse, of Nine Mile Falls, WA; his sister, Billi Jean Strouse, Grand Junction, CO; along with their families. Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents, a nephew who passed away in infancy and his beloved dog, 'Bo.' Kevin has a host of family and friends around the world. Of special note are his Aunt Janine Smith, Aurora, CO; Uncle Ed Wassenaar, Palisade, CO; Uncle Paul Wassenaar, Grand Junction, CO; and three very special cousins, Michelle Bohan, Aurora, CO; Piper Ward, Gypsum, CO, and Matt Wassenaar, New Castle, CO. Kevin was a true friend, hard worker and loved his family and friends. He was always passionate in whatever he did. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Martin Mortuary. Kevin had a special place in his heart for all children, so in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to Kids Aid-Backpack Program, PO Box 2569, Grand Junction, CO 81502. Ann and Richard,
My family and I send our most sincere sympathy for your loss of Kevin. Although I never knew him I did see him around town with your dad and mom from time to time and kept abreast of his time with Marvin and Shirley.
The question "Why Kevin" will never be answered but we all know he is in a better place now.
