Mary TATA Obituary

Mary (Caracoglia) Tata, 89, of Hartford and formerly Wethersfield, beloved wife for 47 years of the late Salvatore Tata, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Born in Hartford on May 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Lucia (Santangelo) Caracoglia. Mary worked for many years as a paraprofessional for the Hartford Board of Education. She was a co-founder and longtime member of the South End Ladies Democratic Club, and a member of the Floridian Society. Mary had a passion for cooking especially during the holidays and keeping up with family traditions that she passed onto her children and grandchildren. During the days of the family owned coffee shop, Tata's Cafe, customers would come in as strangers but Mary made sure they left as family. She leaves her beloved children, Angela T. Stearns of Wethersfield and Sebastian A. Tata and wife Maria of Coventry. Mary will also be forever missed by her grandchildren, Matthew Stearns, Anthony and Lydia Tata, a loving and caring sister in law, Tina Patrissi, brother in law Joseph Tata and wife Mary, brother in law Aurielo Tata and wife Mary. Mary also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She is now reunited with her five siblings, many family members and friends in the Kingdom of Heaven. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Avery Heights, Dementia Unit, Station 3, for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Mary. Due to current restrictions, funeral services will be private. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to the CT Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington St, Hartford, 06106. Dear Angela, Subby and Family,

Mary was one of the best people I had the pleasure to work with at Naylor School. I will always remember M day in kdg. because that meant macaroni for Mr. Cermola and the secretaries. Mary was Naylor's best cook. Your mom was one of the greatest. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Angela, Subby & families: So sorry for the loss of your mom. It was good to see you this morning Angela but so sad to hear about your mom's passing. Mary was always so nice. So many wonderful memories going to the beach with you, your mom, and my Aunt Vinnie on Mondays when the salon was closed. The South End Ladies Democratic Club meetings & get togethers and of course times at Vinnie's Beauty Salon years ago!
May you be comforted knowing she's at peace with your dad now. May God continue to wrap his arms around you during this time. May you always feel comforted by the unlimited, unconditional love she had for you, Matthew and your brother and family.

Aww, sweet Mary how you loved our kids, cared for them comforted them if needed. You set the foundation along with Lucy. Our Naylor table is filling up. Fritzie, Fran, Patty and the "boys" Bonadies, DeLeo, so many. These are the treasures of a lifetime. Love and condolences to your family for sharing you with us.

To Mary's beloved family & friends

Mrs. Tata was such a helpful aid in my son's 1985 kindergarten class with Mrs. Sacuzzo at Naylor School in Hartford's South End. She provided so much reassurance and comfort to him and helped him to smoothly transition from Nursery School. Mary really made the difference for our son, and we never forgot her. We would often speak of her throughout the years, fondly recalling her smile and her warm ways. We are so sorry for your loss, may she rest in peace.
