I lived at PK from 1984-1986. Libbie was a kind and patient teacher. I learned so much from her about growing plants. It was such an amazing time of weekend workshops and selling edible herbs to restaurants in Houston. She inspired me to go to college to get a degree in horticulture. I've been sharing my love of plants with others as a profession, for nearly four decades now, thanks to the early mentorship of LIbbie. Thank you Libbie.

I lived on the Peaceable Kingdom Farm in the early 80's. I learned so much from Libby. I have many, many memories and stories I tell from my year at PK. I have been forever grateful to Libby for the opportunity to live at PK. It was a year of growth and learning. A year of friendships with the other 6 people who were living there at the time. PK neighbors, Ed and Lily who passed away many years ago were a part of those PK years too. Thank you Libby for your generosity and gift of nature. Peace.

Dearest Libbie..mostly I want to say Thank you. Thank you for creating the beauty of Peaceable Kingdom, thank you for expanding our knowledge of native plants, thank you for opening your life and home to the makers, artists, growers and dreamers...you blessed us all with your generosity, grace and beauty.
For myself, I’ve known you my whole life, and who I am in many ways is directly because of my experience at PK. I’m proud of the nickname The PK Kid. You were so generous to allow me to have my wedding there and I am honored to have been able to spend beautiful nights at Summerland. I will miss you always. Your example of life will be in my mind..you are a treasure forever.

For a period we both resided on Church St in Navasota, I enjoyed a visit to her yard as she pointed out the native plants and shared her wealth of knowledge. My children loved to roam Peaceable Kingdom when they were small, For certain, the Earth will miss her as a caretaker and one who found beauty in Nature.

Libby’s grace, knowledge, generosity, and humor touched so many lives in positive ways. For me such wonderful memories when PK was in it’s very early, beginning stages. I learned so much from her and the people that gravitated to that magical time and place. Grateful to have been a small part of it. Thanks Libby.

Thank you Libby for letting us share your land. I remember photographing beautiful wildflower meadows, relaxing on the oversized porch, and partying at festivals. What a good time!

This such sad news to read, but yet another moment of grateful reflection on PK, the friendships made there and Libby’s generosity. I hope that leaving a note here leads to a reconnection or two with 1970s folk. Libby would laugh in a happy way about it. -Tom Teasdale (tomteasdale2@ gmail.com)
