Leroy Wheeler Obituary
Greenfield - Leroy M. Wheeler, age 70, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born on March 8, 1947 in Indianapolis as the son of Sheldon M. and Genevieve L. (Sellers) Wheeler. Leroy graduated from Warren Central High School in 1965. He received his bachelors degree from Indiana University in 1970 and in 1975 received his J.D. Law Degree from Indiana University School of Law. Leroy married Deborah R. (Mook) on September 12, 1970 in Indianapolis.
He was a well-known attorney in Indianapolis and Greenfield from 1978 until October 2017. During the past six years Leroy was the current Town Judge of Cumberland. Leroy was a current member of Geist Christian Church and a past member of First Baptist Church of Cumberland. He was a 30 plus year member of the Warren Township Lions Club. He was also a member of FFF Flying Club in Greenfield and EAA Chapter 1121 in Greenfield. Leroy was a pilot and had a lifelong passion for flying airplanes and British Sports Cars and Corvettes. He will be fondly remembered by many as a loving husband, father, brother and friend.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Deborah R. Wheeler of Greenfield; sons, Nathan A. (Melanie Brown) Wheeler of Indianapolis and Nick M. (Missy) Wheeler of Fishers; sisters, Christina L. (Gary) Martin of Attica, IN and Shellie Brown of Waldron, IN; and brothers, Keith Jones of Greenfield, Bruce Jones of Westfield and Stuart Wheeler of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheldon M. and Genevieve L. Wheeler; and brother, Kenneth O. Etter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place on Monday, January 29, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Geist Christian Church, 8550 Mud Creek Road, Indianapolis, IN 46256 with viewing a half hour prior to the service. Ryan Hazen will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 35105-9959 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary and church. Friends may share a memory or a condolence at www.erleweinmortuary.com.

I just received notice that Leroy had passed. I was very saddened by the news. My sincerest condolences for an incredible loss. I pray for you and the family during this time of grief. Leroy was a friend and associate of mine. We shared office space for a few years at 136 E. Market St. Leroy was always willing to listen to others and to offer his help. He was an honest and generous man. He had a great sense of humor and always maintained a positive outlook on life. He was a man of integrity and a very good attorney. He will be missed by all.
