IRMA DAITER Obituary
IRMA HAGEL, beloved widow of Donald Daiter M.D., passed away in her home on Jan. 24, 2012. She died peacefully and gracefully following a long illness. Her 3 children, Stephen, Eric and Karen as well as their spouses, Michelle Josephson and Lisa Casale and her 3 grandchildren, Eric, Mathew and Maya; as well as her sisters, Hilde, Mare and Ursela and extended families in Germany and Canada survive her.
Born in 1925, Mrs. Daiter immigrated to Philadelphia from Germany after World War II to study and received a bachelors degree in educational psychology from Temple University. However, her devotion was to her husband, children and community. Best known for spontaneous kindness, mischievous kicks, and offers of pastry and bottomless cups of coffee; those who met her valued her welcoming spirit, endless curiosity and wisdom. A competitive high jumper, skil-led hunter and skier, she could also problem solve and restore almost anything from roofs, to antiques, to emotional distress. Her generous spirit, kind heart and loving manner will be sorely missed.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Phila. Art Museum or a charity of your choice.
