Lafayette - Carolyn Sue (LaBaw Vail Cowen) Arnold of Foley, AL and formerly of Lafayette passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in Pensacola, FL from a long battle with cancer.

Carolyn was born December 17, 1945 at Home Hospital in Lafayette to Mary Donas and William Lewis LaBaw. Carolyn was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and Purdue University. She was an avid 42 year member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority having held numerous offices through the years in Lafayette, Huntsville, AL and Foley.

Carolyn's first marriage was to Richard Dexter Vail and they divorced. Her second marriage was to Robert Thomas Cowen and they also divorced. Her final marriage was to Robert Rae Arnold and he lovingly survives her.

Carolyn enjoyed art, architecture and music with Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas concerts being her favorite. Carolyn liked traveling and among her most memorable trips were to the Alamo, NASCAR races, Hawaii, Germany and many vacations at Disney World including one attended by four generations of her family. She frequently visited zoos and gardens and the Atlanta Botanical and Biltmore gardens were the ones she could spend hours in. She was always involved in her children's and grandchildren's sports, scouting and other activities when they were growing up, often making the most noise cheering for them. Carolyn worked for General Telephone downtown Lafayette and then in the retail apparel industry most notably for Ralph Lauren, Tommy Bahama and Chico's.

Along with her husband Robert she is survived by half-sisters Mary Marlatt and Lorna Stevens and brother William James LaBaw. Brother-in-law Richard Arnold and sister-in-law Janice (Henry Burton) Arnold. Daughter Lee Ann (Cowen) Tate and son Bradley (Michelle) Cowen. Stepdaughters Jenny (Russell) McMurry, Kristi (Miguel) Velez and Laura Cantrell. Grandsons Bradley (Kristen) Brown and Dakota Cowen. Step-grandchildren Natasha (Alex) Hitze, Trevor Cantrell, Demarie Corley, Warren McMurry, Sarah McMurry and Lilly Velez. Great-grandchildren Jackson Brown, Ava Brown and Connor Brown. Step-great grandson Vinnie Hitze. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandma Anna Leak LaBaw that helped raise her, her parents, brother-in-law Howard Marlatt and sister-in-law Connie LaBaw.
