Wilma Clauss Obituary

Wilma Jean Clauss

Wolcott - Wilma Jean Clauss, 90, of Wolcott, passed away at 7:43 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2021 at The Springs of Lafayette.

She was born November 23, 1930 in Lafayette to the late C. Ernest and Blanche (Murphy) Conder and was Salutatorian of her class in Wolcott High School. Wilma went on to earn her Associates Degree from Indiana Business College. During business school Wilma worked as a nanny in Indianapolis.

Her marriage of 63 years was to her 4-H sweetheart, Paul Glenn Clauss, on November 7, 1953 in Meadow Lake Presbyterian Church of Wolcott; Paul passed away on November 14, 2016.

After graduating business school, Wilma worked for Bailey, Cord and Williams accountants and later worked as a bookkeeper for the Wolcott Elevator for 6 years. Mrs. Clauss was the head teller at the Bank of Wolcott for over 25 years retiring in 2000.

Wilma was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, the Anson-Wolcott Historical Society, Psi Iota Xi, the Wolcott Euchre Club and was a founding committee member of the Wolcott Summer Festival. Having servant's heart, Wilma volunteered for over 10 years at the White County Food Pantry.

Wilma modeled her Christian values in her service to the Lord, her family and her friends. She was an excellent "scratch cook" and always enjoyed cooking for family get togethers. Mom had a way to make every meal seem special regardless of the occasion. Wilma lived by the principles of education and always doing what was right. One of her favorite sayings was "This Too Shall Pass". In retirement she enjoyed going to auctions, traveling and running her own e-bay store. She will be sorely missed.

Surviving are her children, Cyndy Clauss (Neal Houze) of West Lafayette, Lynn Hunt (Dan) of Idaville, Karen Hood (Bradley) of Battle Ground, Jon Clauss (Shelley) of Fort Worth, TX and Kevin Clauss (D. Max Maccheyne) of Montour Falls, NY. Wilma loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Richard, Laura, Carrie, Jill, Karley, Annalyse, Braden, Kara, Naomi-Susan, Caitlin, Jeremy and Colin and her 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Dorothy Conder and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death with her parents and husband is a sister, Helen Cooper and a brother, William Conder.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. (EST) Friday, May 21, 2021 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home of Wolcott and also from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral at 10:30 a.m. (EST) Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Remington Apostolic Christian Church (733 East St. Remington, IN); ministers of the church to officiate. Interment to follow in Meadow Lake Cemetery, Wolcott.

Memorials may be made to the White County Food Pantry or the Wolcott Summer Festival for fireworks.

"Her children (and grandchildren) will rise up and call her blessed." - Proverbs 31:28
