Mary Boomgarden Obituary
Mary L. Boomgarden, 79, of Freeport died January 2, 2021 at home with her family surrounding her. She was the daughter of Charles and Marie (Nehus) Duray. She married Harry Boomgarden on July 4, 1962. She worked at Micro Switch for 20 years and retired December of 2003. She helped her husband farm the family farm in Harlem Township. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles in the winter and flowers and yard work in the summer along with doing a lot of canning of vegetables from the garden. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and having family get together. Surviving are her husband, Harry, two daughters, Sherry Bessert of Freeport, Keri (Chris) Penticoff of Lake Summerset, two sons Jerry (Lorrie) Boomgarden of Rock City and Terry (Cherie) Boomgarden of Freeport. Nine grandchildren, Justene & Taylor Bessert, Jaclyn & Joshua Boomgarden, Ceara Bennett and Gage Boomgarden all of Freeport, Kylee, Carson & Cody Penticoff of Lake Summerset, and a great grandson on the way. Two sisters, Joan Kraft & Jan (Art) Krieger of Freeport and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin brother, Larry Duray on Oct. 13, 2012, her Uncle Vic Duray and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday January 7, 2021 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Pastor Don Jamerson will officiate. Visitation 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Mary's memory. Please sign her guestbook and share a remembrance at www.burketubbs.com

Harry & family, I am so saddened to read of Mary's passing. She was such fun and we worked together @ Micro for years. We used to come get eggs from you guys and she was such a great lady. She would stop by to visit me on her way to the bank in Lena. I'm so sorry. Hugs to you all.
