I WORKED FOR TOSS AND BEN MANY YEARS. HE WAS ALWAYS A GREAT MAN IN MY EYES. HE TREATED ME LIKE FAMILY AND NEVER LIKE SOMEONE JUST WORKING FOR HIM. I WILL MISS HIM AND WANT TO SEND TOSS, BEN MATHEW AND WHIT MY LOVE AND PRAYERS. DAWN

My first memory of Ben was in the church parish hall, for the massive breakfast that was held every Sunday. I was a teen, & he was trying to keep his composure and dignity as he was trying desperately to catch 2 of his boys, racing down the far aisle of the tables, all three wearing suits. He was not amused at being so embarrassed. I decided I wouldn't ever have children, if this was going to happen. Of course, I grew up, matured, had my own child with wife, just like a lot of us do. Time and again I read his columns, a favorite for half my life. I moved away, but sister continued her subscription, for his columns (and now, reminiscing). He was, in his way, a fine American, journalist, and story teller. My condolences to Toss and family.
