Dear Family,
I am so sad. Your father and grandfather and great grandfather was such a special human being: a real mentsch! He was unassuming and a great listener - and always had a way of being welcoming and warm to Phil, Aaron, Seth and me. He was part of the greatest generation that made the United States such a wonderful and open place to live. To the end of my days I will remember and hold special your beloved Grandfather and Grandmother. What a pair they were and are. I feel so blessed and lucky to have married into your wonderful family. It is true that you can't pick your relatives but you can pick your friends. I believe with the Lerners and Levitts I got the best of both. Marty, thank you for sharing such a wonderful life with so many, including me! And thank you for bringing into the world, with the love of your life such a wonderful child, son-in-law and grandchildren and great grandchildren. To paraphrase Yaakov Smirnoff, WHAT A LIFE! Jewish tradition suggest saying of those we lost, May his memory be for a blessing. In this case memories of Marty will always be for a blessing.
