First and foremost I would like to extend my condolences to the BUCKNER FAMILY. I just stumbled upon this page. My name is Billy Adams and I was a point guard on the 1971 basketball team along with Larry Pounds, Wilbur Tate, Eugene Brown and Eugene Jones.
Coach Buckner has always played a profound role in my life and continues to this day. He was a father, friend, coach and mentor to me. I remember him inviting the team over to his house and we all having a great time bonding as a team. There is so much I could say about this man that stood out. When teammate Wilbur Tate told me that coach Buckner had passed, I cried because he was such a beautiful human being.

Coach Buckner will always live in my heart. He was closer to me than my own birth father. If it wasn't for coach, I would not be in the position I'm in today. The best time in my life was spent with Buckner. Where is Buckie? Is he still wearing thoses cowboy boots?

My love to the Buckner family.
Sincerely,
Wilbur "kim" Tate
