Frank Feder Obituary

November 9, 1928 - March 9, 2021 Frank Elias Feder was born in El Paso, Texas, the only child of Pearl Cohen Feder and Nathan Feder. Raised in a small, tightly knit family that included his beloved aunt and uncle and his cousin, Arthur, Frank attended El Paso High School, finishing at the top of his class while excelling in Latin and serving in ROTC. In 1945, he entered Yale University, majoring in Political Science, before matriculating at Harvard Law School. Between his second and third years in law school, Frank served as a First Lieutenant in the Army's artillery division in Europe, providing aid in the post-war efforts. While in Europe, he heard that an old "friend," Joan Burton, was on a college trip to Paris, and they had a reunion; after several rebuffed marriage proposals, Joan accepted after Frank's fourth attempt. The couple settled in Cambridge, MA for Frank's third year in law school, and Joan soon became pregnant with their first child, Philip. After settling in Los Angeles, Frank and Joan had two more children, Karen and Ellen. Frank had a remarkable career at Loeb and Loeb, where he worked continuously for 65 years, specializing in real estate and real estate investment trusts. Before her passing in 2016, Joan and Frank enjoyed over 60 years of marriage, traveling and sharing meals together with their family and many dear friends. Frank is survived by his three children, his daughters-in-law Cindy and Jennifer, his grandchildren Emily, Lauren, Stephanie, Dominic, Enza and Zoey, and his grandson-in-law Adam.A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedars Sinai Medical Center or to Alzheimer's Los Angeles (alzheimersla.org).
