The attached pictures are just a sampling of how Dick Caruso enhanced my life. Without Dick, our Riviera group would never have the lasting memories of our trips to Pebble Beach, Palm Springs, and our 1979 trip to Scotland & Ireland. Dick aided in the return of the Los Angeles Open to Riviera in 1973, where Dick and my father were two of the first volunteers as Marshals of the 18th green. My father and or I have continued that tradition for the last 51 professional tournaments held at Riviera. As an amateur, I qualified and played in the 1981 Glen Campbell LA Open and without Dick, that experience would have never happened for me. The Riviera Invitational, started by Dick in 1976, which I won six times, would have never happened. Our friendships with the Garacocheas, Kellers, Kelly, and Amy Alcott were all facilitated by Dick because he organized our golf games and events. I am so pleased that I got to talk with him, just prior to his death. He told me that he was very grateful for his wonderful life. I told him of all the wonderful memories he created for me and my father, sharing many of the memories represented in the pictures below. What a marvelous effect Dick had on so many. I will never forget him and always cherish him. He will forever be an inspiration for me to help others, as he helped all of the Carlsons. Dick and Pattie will be in my thoughts...always.

I will always miss and remember Dick and Pattie and will continue to tell the amazing stories of how Dick Caruso enriched the lives of so many, including the decades of memories he created for the Carlson family. I am just so thankful that, one week before Dick's passing, I was able to share my love and gratitude with him in our last phone call. What a legacy he created for the Caruso family and for all of us that were fortunate enough to be a part of his wonderful life.

Dick Caruso was a good friend of mine from the day we first met. The year was 1969, and I had just arrived in Santa Monica, had a studio apartment at the Third Street Promenade, and needed a job within walking distance. I was a new immigrant, and had no car. He hired me on sight! I went to UCLA and Santa Monica Community College at night. He was always kind and encouraging, especially when my fiance was killed in a motorcycle accident. We remained friends throughout the decades, and often met for lunch when he was travelling between Santa Monica and Palm Springs. I treasure his memory, and will miss him. XO

The Caruso family was iconic growing up in Santa Monica in the 1960's and 70's. I went to school with his children at St. Monica's and frequently visited the store on Wilshire Blvd. Like my father who died this year, Mr. Caruso was a larger-than-life personality. My love and condolences to his family and friends.

Not only have we lost our two dear friends, Pattie and Richie, but future memories. We loved these two: Pattie....her effervescent, positive, loving personality....Richie...,his strength, warmth, and loving manner. We are better for having had them in our lives. They'll be missed. Joanie and Pablo

My mother, father, and I were blessed through our relationship with Dick Caruso and his family. For decades my father and I were part of the "Caruso Group" at Riviera CC. We played golf with Dick 2-3 times per week, interacted with him on the RCC Board of Governors, worked with him on all the LA Opens and PGA Championships. Yearly, the Caruso/Garacochea group would go on golf trips to Pebble Beach, Palm Desert, and our most memorable trip, to Scotland and Ireland, in 1979. What fun...what memories..what a life! Dick now joins Don Carlson (my dad), Walter Keller, Tom Kelly, many so many others, as they play God's heavenly courses. Dick, and Pattie, with her non-ending smile and fun-loving spirit, will now take over all golfing and social events. We will never forget Dick and Pattie! They will be in our hearts, minds, and memories forever! Love to all, Chris/Tami and Mary Carlson
