Donna Ham Barker, 66, of Queens Court, Waynesboro, and most recently of Birch Gardens, Staunton, passed away on Friday evening, March 19, 2010.

She was born in Steeles Tavern on March 4, 1944, a daughter of the late Delphin E. Ham and Leona Agnor Ham.

Donna was a graduate of Rockbridge High School and was a retired medical transcriptionist with Medquist. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and she enjoyed Bible study, playing piano, correspondence, puzzles and reading. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandson, Jake.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Baldwin; her nephew, Kevin Ham; and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Bosserman.

Survivors include her son, Whitney R. Barker and his wife, Peige Owens Barker, of Waynesboro; her daughter, Stephanie R. Barker, DVM and her husband, Michael Brian Shepherd, of Griffin, Georgia; her grandson, Jacob Owens Barker; her sister, Sylvia Bosserman of Waynesboro; her two brothers, D.W. and Mary Ham of Waynesboro and J. R. and Linda Ham of Stuarts Draft; her niece and nephews, Sheryl Riley, Michael Ham, Terry Ham, Joey Ham, Jeremy Skillman and numerous great- nephews.

The family would like to express special appreciation to Augusta Health-Hospice of the Shenandoah, especially Brad Bennet, Heidi Gentry, Greg Dietrich and Chaplain Mark Westebbe and to the Staff of Birch Gardens, to members of Westwood Baptist Church, to neighbors on Queens Court and to Dr. Scott Seaton, his nurse, Hope, receptionists and staff.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Westwood Baptist Church, 2124 Davis Road, Waynesboro, conducted by Pastor David Huffer. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Steeles Tavern.

Active pallbearers will be Brian Shepard, Terry Ham, Jeremi Skillman, Michael Ham, Bill Bateman, Ross Bretches, Randy Barker and Joey Ham. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Dave Gibson, Linda Cabell, Loretta Cabell, Jewel Bosserman, Judy Bosserman, Dave Helsel, Jackie Helsel, Arnett Tomey, Preston East, June and Ed Pucket, Tim Ham and Jim Bear.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 961 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville.
