Dear Tim,
I write these lines with a very heart. We must have met in 1998 or 1999, when you had started hiring graduate conducting students from the Hartt School as music director at St. Mary's. With your open and generous heart, soon we became good friends. What followed was several years of great times at St. Mary's Parish, many Classical concerts at the church; celebrations of multi-culturalism and universal love with friends from all the world, topped by wine and your ever-lasting cooking :), Christmas and Easter celebrations. I even met my wife, Angela, at St. Mary's on Epiphany 2003. You were the celebrant at both of our wedding ceremonies in Ankara, Turkey and in Buffalo, NY at your own expense! What a generous and thoughtful man you were. I cannot forget that you also cooked a Christmas dinner in the middle of July with all the Christmas ornaments and even dinner set so that my mother could experience it since she had no other chance.

Then life has tossed us far far away, first to Turkey and then to Germany. Apart from a short visit in 2006 and once again 2012, I think, when you invited my quartet to dinner, we could never meet again and I am sooo sorry to say that, even though we thought of you frequently, we simply failed to connect again. And now it is too late. You are gone. You left us with so many stories of your generosity and loving heart. You will always be remembered.
Rest in peace. With love from Angie and Orhan

I was adopted and we didn't know if I was paptized or not but he let continue with the confirmation class anyways. Plus he was my favorite priest too. He also signed my high school year books too.

Fr Murphy married us and for that we are truly thankful. Both Chuck and I had been previously married and he was willing to forego the regular premarital instruction. Thank you Fr Murphy. Chuck and Catherine

Dear Tim, what great sadness to say goodbye to a dear friend like you, a kind and wise soul, a source of joy and laughter. Your passion for cooking always left us in awe, your delicious meals were a staple in our gatherings. You had a unique talent for storytelling, and I will always remember the captivating tales of your travels abroad. Your adventurous spirit and kind-hearted nature has left a lasting impact on my life. You were a great friend, and I will always cherish the memories of our dinner parties. Rest in peace, my dear friend. You will always be remembered.

I'll miss you, Father Murphy. My years as an Altar Boy were a major part of my childhood. After I moved away from home, you were always a welcome sight whenever I came back to visit. Hampden and St. Mary's will never be the same without you.

Condolences to the St Mary´s family, the bereaved family of Fr Tim and the diocese of Springfied! I have learned with deep sorrow of the passing of Fr Tim!! I will greatly miss him! He was a great friend and brother. When I left the USA to begin a new parish in Uganda following my bishop´s appointment, he donated what I needed to start. When the parish opened its doors, I had everything!!! We at St Francis of Assisi Parish , Rwimi, Uganda have lost a great priest who during his tenure at St Mary´s, worked tirelessly with the St Mary´s family to start a new health clinic at our parish and establish a continuous connection with his parish that has granted continuous support for our ministry. May the good Lord grant this loving and lovable priest a deserving rest in God´s holy court! Rest In Peace my brother priest!
Fr Adolf, Uganda

I've had the pleasure of knowing "Murph" for over 30 years - he was a dear friend of the family. One of the coolest, funniest, most down to Earth people in the world. RIP Timmy. You had a special way and held a special place in my heart

Seeing Tim's obituary brought back many fond memories of the first twenty years of my life. He was a good friend and made everything we did more fun. He was also a groomsman at our wedding. I'm sure he is missed by all who knew him

Thanks Fr. Murphy for your many years of service to our parish here in Hampden. I know you worked very hard and made many improvements. You were always very kind to me and my mother worked hard along with you. Your liturgies were always done beautifully and your homilies were well researched and excellent.
