Mr. Leo Cornelius Ureel Sr.

1941 - 2012

Leo Cornelius Ureel, Sr., age 71 of Houghton, Michigan, passed away early Sunday morning at Houghton County Medical Care Facility. He was born January 2, 1941 to George C. and Viola L. (Abbeg) Ureel in Mount Clemens, Michigan. On August 8, 1964 Leo was united in marriage with Judith A. Boles. Mr. Ureel was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Mount Clemens. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School grades 1-10, L'Anse Creuse High School grades 11-12, graduating in 1959, and studied auto mechanics at the Wolverine Trade School. Leo was employed at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, Roseville, Mich. He was a member and past officer of the Bishop Gallagher Dad's Club and the Macomb YMCA Indian Guides. Surviving are his wife, Judith; children, Leo "Lee" (Elaine Eikenberry) Ureel II, Susan M. Ureel and James "AJ" A. (Jereme Dagg) Ureel; grandchildren, Miriam Eikenberry-Ureel, Leo C. "Neil" Eikenberry-Ureel, Eric J. Hackett, Michael J. Ureel, Faith Ureel and Isabelle Ureel; brother, Earl Ureel, and sisters, Dolores Dumas, Marie Austin, Theresa Ureel and Christine Mukrdechian. Leo was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Ureel. Visiting hours at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens will be 3-9 p.m., Wednesday and 2-9 p.m., Thursday with a 7 p.m. prayer service. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. (instate 11 a.m.) Friday, February 17, 2012 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mount Clemens with Father Wayne Ureel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Clinton Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
