Ben was a very dear friend to me and my husband. Even after our spouses died we saved quarters and spoke often. I will miss him. Found out to late sorry I miss mass but my deepest thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. We spent a lot of time and years together.

Selfishly, I am sad as I look at the 57th anniversary picture of Ben and Trudy, knowing I will never be able to talk to Ben again. But I know he is smiling down on us and hearing and seeing everything around him. I'm sure he is having sweet conversation with his beloved wife, now that they are joined in heaven. What a special man he was. I have never known anyone as caring, kind and generous as he was. He always had a joke to share even if I had already heard it a time or two. I miss those jokes now, but not as much as I will miss Ben, my boss and friend for over 19 years.
The Hoste family has been blessed with two wonderful parents who have left a beautiful legacy for them to cherish. I can say that they have all followed and live as their parents have shown them for they also have the same compassion and care for others. What a wonderful and close-knit family they are.
I want you to know that you are all in my prayers for God's peace and comfort in the coming days.
With my deepest sympathy,

Ben,
I am so very sorry to hear of your dear Dad's passing. He was such a vital part of all our efforts to make Saint Sylvester Church a beautiful house of Our Lord's worship and praise. I always looked forward to seeing your Dad at Mass - and you and your Mom as well - and can only shout out THANK YOU DEAR GOD for the blessings, wisdom and knowledge that your father demonstrated and shared with us at the church. May God grant him eternal rest in heaven!

My deepest condolences to Ben's family. Ben is one of the finest men I have ever known and I was fortunate enough to be his friend for the last few years.
My family has known the Hoste's for many years. Mom and Dad used to spend New Years Eve with Ben and Trudy and other couples. They had such fun together.
I moved back to Michigan in 2004 and connected with Ben when my Mom and sisters and I attended a St Clement multi-year school reunion at the Gazebo. Ben and I shared many interests and would spend hours talking about everything. Ben loved to go out to lunch and when he could no longer do that, we would eat in his kitchen. He began to tell me about life in England during the war. He was proud of his service to our country yet would shed tears for comrades and friends who did not make it home. The film Saving Private Ryan reminds me so much of him. He was 'every man'. He was a devout Christian and a devoted husband and father. His legacy is his wonderful family that he loved so much. I know they will all live up to his name. And now he is with so many friends and family that went before him. But mostly, he is with his beloved wife, Trudy.
Ben, I will miss you very much. But now you are free to walk and run and see and hear. Thank you for your service to our country and thank you for your friendship. R.I.P. Ben.
